About >node<

The research programme >node< (New Orientations for Democracy in Europe) of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and Research (bmwf) puts the European integration process at the centre of scientific observation and analysis. With respect to the European Union, the central questions revolve around the possibilities and options for the realisation of modern democracy and the potential actors that could organise and support the European democratic process. With >node<, we invite scientists to rethink democracy, to analyse political developments and processes and the mechanisms that guide and control them, and to come up with options and alternatives for the further development of democracy.


   

>node< Evaluierung

Es ist vorgesehen, dass alle vom Rat für Forschung und Technologieentwicklung empfohlenen Forschungsprogramme mit einer Laufzeit von mehr als fünf Jahren bzw. einem Budget von mehr als einer Million Euro pro Jahr einer Ex-Post-Evaluierung unterzogen werden. Für >node, das eine Laufzeit von 2002-2006 und ein Gesamtbudget von 5,8 Millionen Euro aufweist, wird diese Evaluierung im ersten Halbjahr 2007 durchgeführt; die konstituierende Sitzung des internationalen Evaluierungspanels fand am 19. 1. 2007 statt. Der Endbericht des Panels wird im August 2007 erwartet. Dem Panel gehören folgende Mitglieder an:

Gastforscher an der Research School of Social Sciences, Australia National University, Canberra, am Zentrum für Europäische Rechtspolitik der Universität Bremen und des European University Institut in Florenz; Gastdozent an der International Summer School in Political Philosophy (in Cortona), am Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen und der Universität von Palermo.
Forschungsschwerpunkte: Politische Philosophie des 18. Jhdt., Geschichte und Theorie des Konstitutionalismus, speziell in der Europäischen Union, Demokratietheorie, Zivilgesellschaft sowie das Verhältnis von öffentlich und privat in politischen Theorien.

Peter Farago (CH)
Dr., Studium der Soziologie

Direktor der Swiss Election Study 1995; Direktor des sozialwissenschaftlichen Forschungsprogramms “Zukunft Schweiz“ (1996-2003); Mitglied des Evaluierungsteams für das Europäische Zentrum in Wien (2005) und der Gesellschaft Sozialwissenschaftlicher Infrastruktureinrichtungen GESIS in Deutschland (2005); Lehrauftrag an der Fachhochschule St. Gallen.
Forschungsschwerpunkte: Programmevaluierung, Forschungspolitik und Forschungsmanagement, soziale Indikatoren, Sozialpolitik, öffentliche Verwaltung, New Public Management, Infrastrukturen, Verkehr, Mobilität, wohnen.

Beate Kohler Koch (DE)
